Michelle Maillet

Born and raised in Ontario, Michelle moved to British Columbia in 2007 where she fell in love with the mountains, nature and lifestyles of the province. Since then, BC has been her home base as she has worked, lived, studied, travelled and played across the province.   

Yoga entered Michelle’s life in 2010 when she was a young Bachelor of Social Work student seeking a change of direction and deeper connection with life. Her first class brought her a strong sense of connection and peace as well as reminded her of the joy of embodied movement. This sparked an ever-growing journey of self-inquiry through Yoga and Meditation practices, which have been lighthouses in Michelle’s life for the past 12 years. Longing to share Yoga with others, Michelle completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2019 with much-loved teacher Deborah Carruthers at Harmony Yoga Studio in Duncan, BC, focusing largely on Ashtanga Yoga. As an active person, Michelle still enjoys the fire of Ashtanga and Flow Yoga, however in recent years she has been loving sharing the practice of Yin with the Balu community, holding space for us to slow down, reflect, sit with discomfort, connect with our bodies, and process.
